Bad Breath: More to Know
What Are the Warning Signs of Gum Disease?
Gum (or periodontal) disease is an infection of the tissues surrounding the teeth and is the major cause of tooth loss in adults. It occurs where there are pockets in the tissues and bones around your teeth. Symptoms of this condition include:

  • Tender gums
  • Swollen or bleeding gums
  • Bone loss surrounding teeth causing loose or shifting teeth
  • Tooth sensitivity
  • Pain when chewing
  • Sulfurous odors from the gum line
If you have any of these symptoms, or if you suspect you have a chronic breath problem, consult your dentist as soon as possible.
