Laser Resurfacing: Risks
Laser surgery is a relatively new technique, but in the hands of a qualified, experienced board-certified dermatalogic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor.

Possible risks that you should be aware of include:

  • Burns or other injury from the laser energy.
  • Scarring.
  • Undesirable changes in pigmentation.
  • Recurring herpes virus infections (cold sores).

Call your doctor immediately if after surgery you are experiencing increased redness and itching or if scarring appears abnormal. Early treatment is important.
