Collagen Treatment: Risks and Side Effects
An allergic reaction is the most common risk of collagen. An allergy skin test should be performed by your cosmetic physician four to six weeks before the actual procedure. Redness, itchiness or swelling at the site may signal that you are allergic to collagen and may not be an appropriate candidate. Other more rare risks include infection, scarring and lumpiness which may persist over the treated area.
