Birthmarks

Most Are Easily Removed
Various types of birthmarks can be removed easily and relatively painlessly with laser treatment. As the laser light penetrates the skin, the birthmarks are cauterized away with minimal, if any, pain. Topical anesthetic creams are used prior to treatment to further minimize pain. Brown birthmarks are treated using the YAG or Ruby laser. Red (vascular) birthmarks, also known as port wine stains or "stork bites", are treated with Dye lasers. These vascular lesions consist of blood vessels that are superficially prominent in the skin, usually at birth. Multiple monthly or bi-monthly treatments are required to remove these birthmarks.

Getting Started
If you are considering a cosmetic medical procedure, consult a dermatologist about the process, risks, recovery time and costs.
