Thumb Sucking: Who Is a Candidate?
Anyone past the age of three or four who continually sucks his or her thumb is a candidate for behavior modification. Even people older than age three or four can cause damage to their mouths - flaring of front teeth, crossbite, open bite, speech problems, etc. - with persistent thumb sucking.
