Your surgeon will tell you specifically what to do to prepare for your surgery.
Here are a few general guidelines that you should follow:
- Do not eat or drink anything for eight hours before surgery (if you have morning surgery, do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before).
- Minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign a consent form.
- Brush your teeth and cleanse your mouth the morning of your surgery to help avoid infection.
- Wear loose clothing with short sleeves. No turtlenecks.
- Do not wear contact lenses.
- Do not wear eye makeup, heavy face makeup, wigs or hairpieces.
- Have an icepack available for use at home.
- Prescriptions and post-operative instructions will be given the day of surgery. In addition, an appointment for a post-operative visit will be made.
