Women who want to improve the way they look, are realistic about results, and who fully understand the procedure and its risks and benefits are the best candidates for a breast lift.
Most women are happier with the more youthful appearance of their breasts after a breast lift and feel more attractive. Many women, especially those with very drooping breasts, say that they are more comfortable after the breast lift and are better able to participate in physical activity. As with any surgery, a breast lift is not without risks and some discomfort; there is scarring with this type of surgery. But many women decide that having shapely, uplifted breasts is well worth it.
As with any surgical procedure, you want to make sure you are in good physical health before considering a breast lift. A pre-operative medical history and physical exam is often required prior to surgery. Age is not a limiting factor as long as your general health is good.
The breast lift procedure is usually considered elective or “cosmetic” which means you’ll have to pay for it yourself. Costs vary in different regions of the country, but average between $4,000 and $8,000. Breast reduction surgery is, in some cases, covered by insurance. When very heavy breasts cause certain symptoms such as backache and upper back and neck pain, the surgery may be deemed medically necessary and therefore covered.
If you decide that a breast lift procedure is for you, make sure the doctor you choose is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Discuss the procedure and its risks and benefits with the physician you consult. Be certain that you are comfortable with the doctor you select.
