Male Breast Reduction: Recovery
Your breasts may be tender, bruised and swollen for a few weeks after the surgery. To speed recovery and to enhance proper contour, a compression garment is usually worn for several weeks after the surgery. Normally, this would not be noticed under one's clothing.

  • Walking can be resumed in a few days, and exercise is usually safe within two to three weeks.
  • Any strenuous activity or exercise or heavy lifting should be avoided for at least a month.
  • Avoid tanning salons or exposure to the sun, which can permanently affect your skin's pigmentation.
  • Schedule regular check ups with your surgeon to monitor healing.
If you experience severe pain or discharge in the surgical area or experience muscle aches, dizziness or a general ill feeling with fever, nausea or vomiting call your doctor immediately.
