Permanent makeup candidates tend to fall into two broad categories.
The first category includes people who are able to apply traditional makeup, but:
- Don't have time to apply or continually touch up makeup.
- Are not allowed to wear makeup at work.
- Work in strenuous jobs where makeup wears off.
- Want to save money on makeup.
- Exercise frequently.
- Want to look their best 24 hours a day.
The second category includes people who are unable or unwilling to apply traditional makeup due to physical challenges such as:
- Vision impairment (including those with contact lenses).
- Unsteady hands.
- Makeup allergies.
- Scars.
- Motor impairments caused by arthritis, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, or stroke.
- Alopecia, or various types of hair loss.
- Vitiligo, a condition where the body becomes allergic to its own melanin.
Candidates may fall into both categories. The overriding characteristic of a permanent makeup candidate is the desire to look and feel good with less effort than is required by traditional makeup.
